rrelentless is proud to back a new expedition for Cat Burford, better known as The Molar Explorer, as she and her team embarks on a rare North‑West Traverse of Svalbard, one of the least travelled and most striking regions of the High Arctic.
Taking place in April–May 2026, the expedition – known as Girls Trip 2026 – will span approximately 18–20 days and will be self‑guided, involving five female polar adventurers, supported by a dedicated camerawoman to document the journey. Together, the team will traverse a remote and demanding Arctic environment that calls for resilience, preparation, trust and strong leadership.
Why rrelentless is backing this expedition
Our mission to rethink risk and redesign insurance is grounded in relentless innovation, resilience and leadership. We recognise those same values in Cat and the team, which is why we are proud to stand alongside them – supporting a bold, prepared and determined approach to achieving something truly extraordinary.
Our belief that insurance should do more than respond after the event, and instead, help people and organisations move forward with confidence means challenging convention, overcoming complexity with practical and intelligent solutions, and redesigning how risk is understood and managed.
As we, at rrelentless, bring together multidisciplinary expertise to build talented teams that can solve problems end‑to‑end and deliver outcomes that are genuinely extraordinary, we are delighted to pledge our support for an expedition team built with the same intent: drawing on diverse disciplines, with one mission, and the capability to deliver in constantly evolving conditions.
Commenting on rrelentless’ involvement, Gary Gallen, CEO and Founder of the rradar group of companies, said:
“I first crossed paths with Cat in Finse, Northern Norway, while I was preparing for my South Pole and Mount Vinson trek. We trained together, and on expedition I heard her stories first-hand. Her enthusiasm for polar exploration and climate protection is infectious – and genuinely inspiring.
It was immediately clear that her approach to challenge, preparation and resilience set her apart. What has stayed with me is the clarity of her ambition and the discipline behind it. A rare North‑West traverse of Svalbard over several weeks is no small undertaking, and Cat’s vision aligns strongly with my own belief in challenging the status quo, doing things differently and pursuing outcomes that can initially seem unimaginable.
Gary continued:
“Through her leadership, Cat gives others the opportunity to be part of something truly exceptional – encouraging people to think bigger and push beyond perceived limits. I am incredibly proud that our teams can pledge our support for this remarkable initiative, standing alongside everyone backing a journey that represents real growth, determination and purpose.”
Purpose beyond the physical challenge
A self‑guided, multi‑week traverse of Svalbard’s north‑west demands rigorous planning, clear judgement and the ability to adapt quickly when conditions shift.
But the expedition has also been designed with clear purpose beyond the physical challenge. With a strong climate focus in one of the fastest‑warming regions on the planet, it aims to raise awareness of environmental change in the High Arctic. It will also shine a light on health and research, supporting greater understanding of women’s wellbeing, resilience and performance in extreme environments – evidence that helps all of us make better decisions in the face of uncertainty.
Reflecting on the expedition and the importance of community support, Cat Burford, The Molar Explorer, said:
“As we embark on our next expedition, I’m very aware that journeys like this are made possible thanks to the encouragement and commitment of a wider community. Exploration has the power to challenge assumptions, expand knowledge and inspire others to rethink what’s possible. I’m incredibly grateful to all those supporting this expedition, including rrelentless, as part of the rradar group of companies, for backing the value of resilience and pushing boundaries in pursuit of something bigger than the challenge itself.”
Supporting Communities to Do the Extraordinary
rrelentless is proud to be one of the supporters backing this High Arctic expedition and the wider purpose it represents.
As Cat and the team set off on this rare North‑West Traverse of Svalbard, we wish them every success and look forward to following a journey that exemplifies resilience, leadership and the power of doing things differently. In many ways, it is the same mindset we embody with our partners: bringing pace, preparation and support when it matters most.
